A fat lot of good that low cholesteral diet did for poor Daniel. Might as well eat white sugar. Fun tale, Inventive and pretty.

Thank you Jeanne. And maybe Daniel can find some good jungle fruit, good for you I hear :)

Love God's inclusiveness: "God had chosen many different grains of sand: smooth, white, round, jagged, black, coarse, yellow, abrasive, hard, brown, and soft – as seed for the angels that now roamed from one side of Earth to the other end of heaven."

My constant smile was broken up a couple of times by out loud chuckles. (That is a compliment, Victor). More specifically, I celebrate your inventiveness. I resonate with what Mike and Edward have written.

Thank you Elva. As I mentioned, this is from a long while back. I've never shared it before except with the angel for whom I wrote it. I do love and appreciate your comment, many thanks again.

Is it a fair question to ask about your sense of the evolution of your writing - the entire arc? Muses that came and went like some of these angels... How did you come to describe your writing or at least what you present here as "Odd Fiction". Is your convention a unique expression of weird fiction? Respectfully curious.

You ask very good and penetrating questions Elva. I’m not sure I have the answers, though. Something happened to me a long time ago that set me on the trajectory of my life which I (attempt to) express through writing. If you like, I’ve written about it here:

https://victordavid.com/writing/transformation

The upshot is that I trust in what I’m doing. At a writer’s group meeting one time a friend of mine said that I had taken my internal editor / critic – the one that says no, you can’t say that, yakety yak, etc. – out into the forest and shot him. It was a joke of course, but the idea is true. I trust my instincts. That doesn’t mean it works all the time - I have plenty of duds – but it has served me and my style well.

I’m don’t attempt to dig deeper into my psyche and try to figure out the whole why because for me it’s a bit like magic and I’m a bit superstitious I suppose. As I wrote in the above article, I’ve seen people “submit to the intractable weight of logical conclusions” and known that’s it’s not for me, although I’m also a fan of logic. Hey, there’s those contradictions again.

I wish we were having a coffee in a plaza with the sun and the birds because I’m not too good at virtual exchanges I must admit, but I do thank you for your questions and interest and hope I’ve made at least a little bit of sense.

I am "embracing my poetic perplexity" and simply being in wonder of the world where you exist. How is that for thievery? I see whirling lights and hear the cling clang clunk of coins being spit out. I hit Jackpot: Transformation is a tiny but tasty texto - a glimpse of your essence. "Something much bigger than me seized the very essence of my being and said: here is the real power of life, and don’t you ever, ever forget it." I'd argue it WAS your essence that spoke to you and dragged you into a time-lapse of a lifetime of learning. Delighted.

Thank you Elva. I'm glad you have the power of perplexity also. And yes, learning. A wonderful thing. I hope we both never stop.

This is magnificent. And I’m fond of the angel Daniel’s name. ☺️

Thank you Daniel. And I agree with you. I'm fond of the name Daniel also. It's come up a few times :)

Your stories remind me that I'm a human being, and not merely a toy that my dog dragged in from somewhere outdoors, dropping on the living room floor and demanding that it play with her. Glad you dusted this one off!

Maybe we all need a little reminder once in a while. I know I do. Thanks for reading Mike and for your lovely comment.

Thank you Edward. Fortunately I haven't seen any tigers lately and I'll try to stay away from dye. My hair is mostly gray or white and that's fine!
