Oh Victor, beautiful prose and imagery. As usual, I will read this one several times for a better understanding of the message. You never fail to inspire!

Once again we are laid low by the striking metaphorical prose of Mr. Sandiego. This is a deep and resonant story; it demands not only reflection but meditation. Important and savagely topical. I will read it again in a room lit only by candles (and of course the backlight of this screen!)

Thanks Mike. As you have noted, the situation of these recent days is on my mind. Love your phrase "savagely topical". What a great combo. Thanks again, and enjoy the candles, friend!

"We tried ballot and spit, polite questions and fake anthrax. But the lies wouldn’t die. They stripped their pretense like lover’s underwear for all to see the magnitude of their mendacious splendor, and the truth did not oppose. Truth peered from behind the desks of small silent groups with no funding." - you say so much here and throughout the whole piece. This story is wild, tangled, kind of like a feral animal running amok, but so many little parts of it are like these statements which reflect concepts that are so large and universal and massively important, especially now. Phrases that are little fractals about power and deception and human nature..."He had been in a war, before wars had been declared silent, not worthy of making people upset with their updates". You illustrate the mask we live under in such a ferocious, poetic way. Love your work, this one is fantastic as are so many of your others.

Hi Greg and thanks much for reading and sharing your thoughts. I do try to look under the masks, as you put it, and see what's hiding there. As far as this one goes, yes, it's kind of wild and tangled alright, but for better or worse, I go where the spirit takes me. Besides, I like wild and tangled :)

I really appreciate you checking it out. Your insight means a lot to me.

The dark and malevolent imagery was depressing but that made the hopeful ending all the more refreshing. I will be contemplating this one for some time, Victor. Your work is always stimulating.

Thanks again!
