Your stories, Victor, sometimes make me feel like I have been picked up in the teeth of a large dog and given a good, rattling shake, and set back down. This was one of them. Whew...
"And the boots went forward, Thomas Hunter in a line of machines that had once been men, oiled with orders, and fueled with unimpeachable demands, impregnable duty."
I could have quoted any line from this one, Victor. It is truly a brilliant piece. I read it twice and then once again with the voiceover, which revealed much nuance. And I love the repeating verse "Why do you..." Remarkable, my friend.
And very nice of you to mention my story as some piece of inspiration. I am honored.
Your story set this one in motion, for sure. Don't know exactly why, but something with the boys and their crying or not (supposed to be) crying. I just got immediately inspired, so many thanks, Jim for that push. And thanks for reading and commenting, always love it, friend.
Fantastic writing Victor. You have a style all your own and it is wonderful. This rang true and strong. It was emotional, deep and thought inspiring. Truly enjoyed it. - Jim
Thank you, Jim. Really glad you found it thought inspiring. For me, as I mentioned, Jim C's story thought inspired me. Get a chain going... Thanks again...
I tried to do my own recording, but my main computer has some problem and there's a loud noise in the mic line. Tried different mic lines, different mics, no difference.
So I have another computer that doesn't have my audio tools on it, but the mic (same mic) is nice and quiet. So I used the Substack tool, which means doing it all in one take, and after a few tries, I got it.

Yikes, that's quite an image, Sharron. Wow.. thank you. I really appreciate you reading and leaving such a lovely comment.

Holy shit that last paragraph! I’m new to your work and am a fan!
Alright! Thanks Rebecca. Very nice to have you here. Glad you enjoyed the piece. And welcome!
I think Sharron said it best - this was like fangs biting into us. Pain and irony in equal measure is on display here. Very moving and startling.
Thanks Mike, I'm glad you found pain. Wait, that doesn't sound right. Hey, you know I mean, I hope. Really appreciate you checking it out, friend!
Hola Víctor, que historia tan fuerte en emociones...esta en particular me ha dejado un aprendizaje...gracias!
Gracias Mónica, me alegro que te haya parecido algo en lo que reflexionar y pensar. Agradezco tu comentario.

Another fine story, Victor, as was Jim's story that inspired it! I like your voiceover.
Thank you, James. Glad you enjoyed it, and Jim's, too. I've been working on overcoming tech problems recording, but maybe figured it out...
Sounds like you are uploading your own recording and not the using the Substack voiceover tool?
