You are a unique and gifted writer, Victor. This one may become my new favorite, the prose is so elegant and enigmatic. Of course "The Life and Death of Ernest Hemingway" and "Goodbye Rudy for Ships," will always be in the top five. I can't wait to see what's next.

Hey Jim, we're on the same ship. Those are two of my favorites, also. Funny how we love all our work that we publish, but still, some more than others. At least, that's my experience.

As for what's next, well... I had it queued up, but went with this one instead. I try to mix up the tone from week to week, if possible. Next may be a piece inspired by you. It's not like your incredible piece that I think about, but in it, you provided the spark to start up the engine.

Thanks for reading, and for your beautiful comment, friend.

What a quiet, introspective, and beautiful story. Your work is thought provoking, and genuinely creative. I love the last paragraph - flourishing in a quiet place remains my life's ambition. Someday...

Yes, sometimes I can be quiet. Sometimes loud, but (hopefully) not obnoxious. :) Thanks for checking it out, and for your lovely comment, Mike. It means a lot to me. May you get to that quiet place and flourish, although I must say it seems like you're doing that right now. If I've got it right, you're near the sea, which is such a calming force. Sometimes, I miss sitting on a bench by the beach in Seattle. Coffee in hand....

Victor, in my most creative and imaginative mood, there is no way in hell I could write something like this. I'm so glad you are capable of it. Jealousy is not the right word for what I feel, but envy is close. Great writing. - Jim

Thank you Jim. I'm glad you enjoyed it. We all have our voices and visions. Like, I couldn't do what you do so well. I usually just wander a path that I don't know where it'll go. Thanks again, friend.

"... he dwelt reclusively in his innocent orbit of dreams." "She was like a child who fears scrutiny." These two lines describe my own childhood. And, to tell the truth, still describe me in old age. Beautiful, Victor. So thoughtful.

Yes, I can relate also to these things, and also as both child and adult. Thank you for reading and your nice comment, Sharron. I'm glad you enjoyed this piece.
